Confession: Sometimes I cringe when someone asks me, “What do you use on your hair?”
Not because I don’t want to help… I love helping! But sometimes there is no easy answer. Sometimes its not even the answer that needs dissecting. Are they seeing that they like? Curl definition? Shine? Color? Volume? Sometimes the answer leads to an open conversation about so many other things, like the proper technique in caring for your hair and the importance of finding your regimen, but sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes all they have is 2 minutes to hear what cream, butter, or magic potion they should try on their hair. And I feel like I’ve done an injustice by leaving out the major importance of paying attention to practices, in addition to product choices.
I’ve found that a lot of us (yes, including myself) tend to focus on the products over the technique.
Sometimes its even harder to know what to attribute my good hair days to, especially when I’m learning and trying new things constantly, and I rarely use ONE product on my hair. Was it that bomb leave in? Or that amazing stlyer? Maybe it was the oil sealing from the LOC method? Or could it be the changes I’ve been making in my diet? Aaaah where do I start?
Where should more value be placed in order to maintain healthy hair- in products or regimen?
