I’m losing faith in control pastes. I’ve tried quite a few and I’m scratching my head trying to understand the hype. -Enter my next topic of discussion, trusting sponsored bloggers and vloggers-. I’ve tried a few pastes on both wet and dry hair– and had subpar results– but my true disappointment is always confirmed when I try to use it for a dry style- like a twist out, for example. The paste lays my edges down for a minute, but ultimately surrenders to this South Florida humidity. They don’t stand a chance.
I know that these products are marketed towards both relaxed and natural hair types, but are they truly intended for curly girls? Probably not us kinky, curly ones. I’m convinced that “pastes” work best for those with looser/finer curl textures. I tried a dab of paste on my daughter’s hair for picture day, and it worked quite well considering she is a busy toddler. But honestly, I can’t even truly accredit the paste alone because she had a tiny bit of Curl Maker gel (Camille Rose Naturals) on her edges too.
*Plays “Waterfalls” by TLC.*’m sticking to the rivers and the lakes that I’m used to. Because ultimately, these pastes aren’t doing anything for me that a little gel, water, and a good scarf can’t. I mean, I don’t want my edges “controlled” anyways… just laid.
