That One Time I Purchased CurlBox Natural and Didn’t Use It

Yes, I may or may not be crazy. But I’ve changed my mind.

In my quest to embrace my inner minimalist (and re-prioritize for my growing family), I made the decision not to tempt myself by trying- and possibly falling in love with- the Devacurl Super cream that has been the talk of the town. I purchased the CurlBox Natural, jumped for joy like a kid on Christmas when it arrived, yet here it sits on my dresser– lonely and unopened.

Why? I want to stand by the philosophy that I wouldn’t sample, try, or buy a product that I’m not willing to add to my rotation–if it should blow me away. Although the Curlbox Natural was a great deal at $40 for an entourage of DevaCurl products, I just can’t fathom paying twenty to thirty dollars on a hair cream/shampoo/conditioner/ whatever, when I have access to products that can achieve the same results at a fraction of the cost. Not to be misunderstood, I am a team “treat yourself,” and I believe that every hardworking human is entitled to do so on occasions. I’ve left MAC, Sephora, and some of my favorite retail stores with an entourage of goodies that bring a smile to my face, and I totally understand paying for self maintenance and doing a little something for thyself. But when considering personal care items like hair care products, that require consistent replenishment, I’m not interested in breaking the bank anymore. (I see you sneering and judging me for the $22 I dropped on gel that one time, but I promise, it really does last a long time!)

But I digress.
