I was pretty excited about this Jessicurl Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner review. I had been hearing amazing things about the brand, and was eager to get my hands on some of the awesomeness.
I started with samples of this condish. The texture was silky smooth and exactly what I look for in a product- it wasn’t watery and it wasn’t too thick. When I initially removed it from the package, I doubted its potential as a deep conditioner for my hair type. Curiously, I applied it to my freshly washed hair, smoothed it through to my ends, and waited for my miracle. I covered my hair with a shower cap, wrapped my hair in a beanie, and slept like a baby.
The next morning I was met with happy, moisturized curls. Winning.
The good:
Though I haven’t tested this product as a rinse out condish or leave in, I’d like to believe that it has promise. It felt great as I worked it in, massaged and rinsed- and the slip was pretty awesome.
The bad:
Unfor., I wasnt impressed by the performance of this product as a deep conditioner. Maybe my standards are incredibly high because of the bomb product that I currently use, but I’m not ready to compromise an awesome DC session because I’m gave the benefit of the doubt. Although it was moisturizing, it just wasn’t moisturizing enough. It felt as though something was missing.
Neither here nor there:
I love the creativity of this brand’s product names. The nerd in me loves a good play on words, and with names like “Gelebration Spray”, Awe Inspiraling Spray”, and “Too Shea” I knew there had to be a genius curly girl behind the brand.
I was surprised when I noticed that there was no fragrance in this product (if there is, it was subtle). Im not marking any points off for this reason, only because as a person with sensitive skin and a baby who often shares my hair products, its a relief to know that I can enjoy quality products without smelling like candy or a field of flowers all of the time.
The truth:
Would I try this product again? I would love to give this condish another chance, in another role. If I wanted a conditioner that had no responsibilities beyond detangling, perhaps I would grab this one. Sadly, I have quite a few products in my arsenal that show loyalty in more ways than one, so I don’t see myself purchasing this product any time soon.
